Pregnant Daughter-in-Law Kills Mother-in-Law in Delhi, Allegedly Drugs Her Before Murder

Delhi Crime News: In a shocking incident from Delhi’s Wazirabad area, a pregnant woman allegedly killed her mother-in-law using a hammer. Police investigation revealed that prior to the attack, the daughter-in-law reportedly administered sleeping pills to the victim. The accused later tried to mislead authorities by fabricating a story of a burglary and fire.

Incident Details
The crime took place at a residence on the first floor of a house in Lane No. 5, Sangam Vihar, Wazirabad. On the morning of November 19, locals reported a fire at the house. When police arrived, they found the severely burned body of 65-year-old Nasreen Begum. The daughter-in-law, identified as 24-year-old Afreen, was also present on the second floor.

False Story of Burglary
During initial questioning, Afreen claimed that four intruders had entered the house, assaulted her, and set the property on fire. However, her inconsistent statements raised suspicion. Upon rigorous interrogation, she admitted to murdering her mother-in-law. Afreen confessed that she feared Nasreen Begum would transfer property ownership to her younger son Rizwan, which motivated the crime.

Evidence Collected
Police recovered the hammer allegedly used in the murder and confirmed traces of kerosene at the scene. Afreen has been formally charged and presented in court, where she was remanded to judicial custody. Family members, however, suspect that Afreen may not have acted alone and that others could have been involved.

Family Background
Nasreen Begum’s husband, Ishtiaq, had passed away several years ago. She has four sons—Rehan, Adnan, Salman, and Rizwan. Rehan lives in Inderlok with his family, Adnan resides on the ground floor in Sangam Vihar, while Salman and his wife Afreen occupy the second floor. Afreen and Salman were married in April this year. The youngest son, Rizwan, works as a teacher at a government school and lives with his mother.

Police Statement
According to DCP Raja Banthia, the investigation is ongoing to determine whether anyone else was involved in this heinous act. Authorities are examining all angles, including possible motives beyond property disputes.
