Jabalpur: Allegations have surfaced regarding the illegal settlement of Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals in the Hinotiya Bhoy area of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Reports suggest that these individuals have occupied government land for several years and are allegedly using forged Aadhaar cards and voter IDs to avail benefits under government schemes.
During verification for the SIR (Special Identification Report), local BLO (Booth Level Officer) reportedly found that no valid documents were being presented by the residents. Following these findings, Hindu nationalist organizations — Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal — have issued an ultimatum to the administration, demanding that the settlers vacate government land by 27 November.
According to sources, hundreds of families, allegedly of Rohingya and Bangladeshi origin, have occupied multiple government plots in the area for years. Certain individuals from outside the region are also accused of disturbing the social environment of Jabalpur.
VHP’s department coordinator, Sumit Singh Thakur, alleged that the settlers are not only occupying land illegally but also possess voter IDs and Aadhaar cards obtained unlawfully, enabling them to exploit central and state government welfare schemes.
The administration has reportedly begun investigating the claims. Additional SP Anjana Tiwari confirmed that some families have been residing on government land for nearly seven years. Following complaints from the Hindu organizations, tehsildar officials have already issued notices to the alleged encroachers. Authorities are currently verifying both the legitimacy of the land occupation and the authenticity of the foreign residents’ documents.
VHP and Bajrang Dal have warned that if the administration fails to clear the land by the given deadline, the organizations will take direct action themselves. The campaign is being positioned as part of a broader effort against illegal foreign settlements nationwide.
