
After much anticipation, Tata Motors has launched the petrol variants of its popular Harrier and Safari SUVs in the Indian market. Previously available only in diesel, these midsize SUVs now feature a newly developed 1.5-litre Hyperion Turbo Petrol Direct Injection (TGDI) engine, offering 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of peak torque. Both manual and automatic transmission options are available.
Trim Options for Both SUVs
The Harrier Petrol is offered in multiple trims: Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X+, Fearless X, Fearless X+, and Fearless Ultra.
The Safari Turbo Petrol comes in Smart, Pure X, Adventure X+, Accomplished X, Accomplished X+, and Accomplished Ultra trims.
Key Highlights of the New Turbo Petrol Engine
The 1.5-litre Hyperion Turbo Petrol engine is refined and smooth, significantly reducing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). It ensures impressive performance and mileage, complemented by a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. This engine enhances the driving experience, making the Safari and Harrier more appealing to petrol enthusiasts.

Safety has been upgraded with ADAS Level 2+, offering 22+ advanced safety features, multiple airbags, 19-inch alloy wheels, connected car technology, 360-degree cameras, and park brake functions that prevent driving without fastening the seatbelt.
New Interior Themes
The Safari Petrol features a Red #DARK variant with Carnelian Red leatherette seats, along with options in Oyster White, Gold, and Frost White interior themes. The Harrier Turbo Petrol also offers the Red #DARK variant with signature badging, enhancing the premium feel.
With these enhancements, the Tata Safari and Harrier Turbo Petrol variants combine performance, luxury, technology, and safety, making them highly competitive choices in India’s midsize SUV segment.
