Attempted Sandalwood Theft at MP Assembly Raises Security Concerns
Bhopal: In a shocking breach of security, unknown thieves attempted to steal sandalwood trees from the Madhya Pradesh Assembly complex, one of the state’s highest security zones. The incident occurred while security personnel were on leave, exposing vulnerabilities in the otherwise tightly guarded premises.
The Assembly grounds host 230 MLAs during sessions and are protected by a battalion of Special Armed Forces along with over 70 Assembly security personnel. Despite this high-level protection, the thieves managed to fell one sandalwood tree and caused significant damage to two others, leaving saw marks visible on the trunks. It appears the culprits were unable to carry away the main tree due to its weight.
