Pune: The results of the Maharashtra local body elections have brought several inspiring stories to the forefront. One such story is of Bhagyashree Jagtap, a humble fruit seller from the popular hill station of Lonavala, who has been elected as a member of the Lonavala Municipal Council (LMC).
Bhagyashree, a candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, defeated her closest rival from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to win the council seat. She secured 1,468 votes, surpassing BJP candidate Rachna Sinker, who received 800 votes, winning by a margin of 608 votes.
