Fierce Ex-Maoist ‘Hidma’ Swaps Gun for Bow and Arrow at Bastar Olympics; Amit Shah to Attend Closing Ceremony
Raipur, Chhattisgarh: The month-long Bastar Olympics is drawing to a close, showcasing a unique symbol of transformation—ex-Maoist Hidma, who has abandoned the gun for the bow and arrow, now demonstrating his archery skills. The event highlights a new path for those who have left violence behind or survived its impact.
Ex-Maoist Hidma’s New Journey
Hailing from Sukma district, the former insurgent, known as Muchki Hidma, surrendered earlier this year. “I am Hidma, but not that Hidma,” he said. “I am Muchki Hidma from Sukma. I surrendered this year… now I aim with a bow instead of a gun.” Hidma emphasized that he has come to understand the true meaning of freedom, no longer needing to hide or target humans.
