Patna, December 12, 2025: A two-day national consultation on seasonal migration, held at the A.N. Sinha Institute of Social Sciences, has triggered serious concern after former Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Director Pushpendra Kumar revealed that more than 6.3 million workers migrate out of Bihar in search of livelihood. According to his analysis, only 25% find work within Bihar, while 71% travel to other Indian states and over 3% migrate abroad. The consultation brought together experts, labour union representatives, social workers, and government officials from Bihar as well as from Gujarat, Kerala, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Delhi. Patna, December 12, 2025: In a major relief for nearly six lakh government school teachers in Bihar, the state’s Education Department is fast-tracking a new teacher transfer policy that is expected to be submitted to the state cabinet within a month. The long-awaited policy aims to streamline transfers, ensure transparency, and address concerns that have persisted for over a decade. Under the proposed rules, a uniform transfer framework will apply to all categories of teachers, including regular teachers, special teachers, school instructors, headmasters, and principal teachers across the state’s 79,000 schools. Patna, Bihar: The victory celebrations of several newly-elected MLAs in the Bihar Assembly 2025 elections have come under a cloud as the Patna High Court has issued notices challenging their election results. Out of the 243 newly-elected members, four MLAs now face legal scrutiny, with the court asking them to respond to the petitions.
