CAG Report Reveals Irregularities in PM Awas Yojana (Gramin): Full Payments Made for Incomplete Houses

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has raised serious concerns regarding the implementation of the PM Awas Yojana (Gramin) in its latest audit report, which was tabled in the state assembly on Wednesday. The report highlights gaps in beneficiary selection, payment disbursal, and physical verification of houses under the scheme. Survey and Beneficiary Selection According to the report, a survey to identify eligible beneficiaries was conducted in July 2017, and the report was published in March 2024. Out of 33.64 lakh identified beneficiaries, only 22.29 lakh names were included in the official waiting list for the scheme.
