Railway Group D Recruitment 2025: Over 22,000 Vacancies to be Filled Soon

Good news for job seekers aspiring to join Indian Railways! The Ministry of Railways has approved over 22,000 new vacancies for Group D positions in 2025. These recruitments will be for Level 1 posts, including Assistant Track Machine, Assistant (Bridge), Track Maintainer Grade IV, Assistant (TRD), Pointsman, and other roles. Among these, the largest number of vacancies — 11,000 — will be for Track Maintainer Grade IV. Overall, applications will be invited across 11 categories.

Expected Notification
The recruitment has been approved, with positions allocated across various railway zones — 993 posts in East Central Railway and 1,199 posts in South Eastern Railway, among others. The official notification is expected by late December or the first week of January, after which the application process will commence. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have passed Class 10 from a recognized board. Earlier, ITI qualification was required, but it is no longer mandatory. Candidates should be between 18 and 36 years of age, with age relaxations applicable for reserved categories. Detailed eligibility norms will be provided in the official notification.

Selection Process
The selection will be based on multiple stages: Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination. Candidates who clear the written test will be called for the PET.

  • Physical Standards:
    • Men: Must carry 35 kg weight for 100 meters within 2 minutes.
    • Women: Must carry 20 kg weight for 100 meters within 2 minutes.
    • Endurance Test: 1000 meters running for all candidates.
