Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, famous for Titanic, has a surprising connection to India: his stepmother is an Amritdhari Sikh. In a recent interview with Time Magazine, DiCaprio revealed details about his family, leaving not only fans but also his co-star Brad Pitt astonished.
DiCaprio shared that his father, George DiCaprio, comes from a hippie counterculture background, growing up in San Francisco and Los Angeles during the 1970s, and spent time with people involved in the underground art movement. His stepmother, Peggy DiCaprio, embraced Sikhism years ago and has recently started wearing a pagdi (turban) regularly, often appearing in traditional Indian attire. Peggy married George in 1995 and has a son, Adam Ferrar, who is Leonardo’s stepbrother.
Fans were delighted to learn this personal detail. Many commented that knowing this fact made them love DiCaprio even more, while others called it an interesting insight into the actor’s family life.
DiCaprio also recounted a memorable moment on the set of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” When his father and stepmother visited the set, Brad Pitt could hardly believe they were Leonardo’s parents. DiCaprio said, “I told Brad, ‘They’re my dad and stepmom.’ He said, ‘Yes, right!’ I said, ‘No, really—they are!’ He couldn’t believe it. They looked like extras, but these are the clothes they actually wear every day. It was an amazing moment.”
This revelation adds a unique dimension to Leonardo DiCaprio’s personal story, highlighting his multicultural family ties and the interesting blend of Hollywood and Indian heritage.
