
James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ (Avatar 3) suffered a significant drop at the Indian box office on its first Monday, with earnings falling 55% compared to its opening day. Despite the setback in India, the film continues to perform exceptionally worldwide, grossing approximately ₹3,250 crore globally in just four days.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ continues to dominate domestically. On its 18th day, the film broke the record of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, becoming 2025’s highest-grossing Indian film worldwide. Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ earned ₹16.50 crore on its third Monday, nearly double the earnings of ‘Avatar 3’ on the same day. Its domestic net total now stands at ₹572.25 crore, with a worldwide gross of ₹872.25 crore. For comparison, Rishabh Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ had grossed ₹852.31 crore worldwide.
‘Avatar 3’ Collection Breakdown
According to Sacnilk, ‘Avatar 3’ earned ₹8.55 crore net in India on Monday, including:
- ₹3.75 crore from the English version
- ₹3 crore from Hindi dub
- ₹0.75 crore from Telugu
- ₹1 crore from Tamil
- ₹0.04 crore from Kannada
- ₹0.01 crore from Malayalam
The film has collected ₹75.80 crore in four days in India, significantly lower than its predecessor ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, which earned ₹147.40 crore in the first four days in 2022. The film is expected to benefit from the upcoming Christmas weekend (25 Dec) and New Year holidays, potentially crossing ₹140+ crore in its first week.
The budget of ‘Avatar 3’ stands at $400 million (~₹3,600 crore). Despite the domestic slowdown, its global opening remains strong, making it one of the year’s biggest international releases after ‘Zootopia 2’, performing exceptionally in the U.S., China, Australia, and other key markets.
Other Releases Struggle
‘Dulrabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi’ starring Sanjay Mishra and Mahima Chaudhry flopped, earning only ₹30 lakh in four days, with Monday adding ₹2 lakh.
Kapil Sharma’s ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2’ also underperformed. On its 11th day, it collected just ₹14 lakh, bringing its 11-day domestic net total to ₹12.02 crore.
‘Tere Ishq Mein’, directed by Aanand L. Rai and starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, has completed 25 days in theaters. The spiritual sequel to ‘Raanjhana’ has been a hit at the box office, earning ₹116.16 crore net domestically and ₹161.33 crore worldwide, though Monday contributed only ₹11 lakh from Tamil and Hindi versions combined.
