Bilaspur Train Tragedy: Death Toll Rises to 11; Signal Violation Identified as Initial Cause
Raipur, Chhattisgarh:The death toll in the Bilaspur train accident has risen to 11, marking it as the sixth major rail disaster in India this year. The collision occurred when a local MEMU train connecting Gevra and Bilaspur Junction collided with a freight train on Tuesday around 4 PM, leaving at least 20 passengers injured.
Railway officials have announced ex-gratia compensation for the victims’ families: ₹10 lakh for each deceased passenger, ₹5 lakh for seriously injured passengers, and ₹1 lakh for those with minor injuries.
