Ghaziabad / Uttar Pradesh: A video of Yati Narsinghanand Giri, Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhara, has gone viral, triggering nationwide outrage. In the video, Giri demanded the army use artillery to demolish four major universities: Al-Falah University, Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Darul Uloom Deoband.
The statement comes in the wake of the Delhi car blast on 10 November near Red Fort Metro Station, which left 12 dead and over 20 injured. Giri claimed that until these institutions were destroyed, the country could not be considered safe.
Security agencies are already on high alert following the blast, conducting raids at suspected locations. Uttar Pradesh has been placed on red alert, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and DGP Rajiv Krishna directing heightened vigilance across all districts. Agencies in Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi, Saharanpur, Meerut, and Ayodhya are closely monitoring potential threats.
Enhanced Security Measures
Security is not limited to streets and public areas. The state’s most sensitive facility, Lucknow District Jail, has been fortified. High-security barracks, entry gates, perimeter walls, and watchtowers now have additional security personnel, and the entire facility is under 24-hour CCTV surveillance.
Giri’s statement has intensified public debate and raised concerns about the responsibility of religious leaders in maintaining communal harmony. Authorities continue to monitor developments closely to prevent any escalation.
