Jaipur: The Congress party is preparing to take an aggressive stance on issues related to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the Aravalli region. The party is now formulating a large-scale public movement strategy on these matters. According to media reports, Rahul Gandhi could lead a march spanning four states from Gujarat to Delhi. The final decision on this strategy is expected to be taken during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on 27 December.
Rahul Gandhi May Lead the Movement
After targeting the central government on issues such as alleged vote irregularities and SIR matters, Congress is now focusing on MGNREGA and Aravalli concerns, which are closely linked to public welfare, employment, and the environment. The party believes these issues will help garner mass support, and senior leadership may entrust Rahul Gandhi with on-ground leadership of the movement.
Proposed March Across Four States
Internal discussions within the party indicate that the proposed march could start from Gujarat, proceed through Rajasthan and Haryana, and culminate in Delhi. Several public meetings and interactive programs are expected to be held during the journey. The aim is not only to challenge the central government’s policies but also to revitalize the party organization at the grassroots level.
Strategy Discussions in Jaipur
Extensive discussions regarding the campaign were held in Jaipur between former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress leader Pawan Khera. They deliberated on the nature of the movement, issue presentation, and public outreach strategies. Party leadership intends for the campaign to be impactful and directly connect with the people.
Timing and Expectations
The movement or march is likely to commence in the New Year, considering year-end and New Year schedules. The final direction of Congress’s political strategy is expected to emerge from the CWC meeting on 27 December, which will set the tone for the party’s next moves in 2026.
