Ghaziabad: The sensational claim of a firing attack by BJP woman councillor Sheetal Chaudhary on October 29 has been debunked by the police. Forensic analysis confirmed that no shots were fired, and the shattered car glass was broken from the inside, raising serious questions about the authenticity of the incident.
Investigation Uncovers Staged Drama
Late on the night of October 29, Sheetal Chaudhary had alleged that two motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on her car on NDRF Road, shattering the windshield and putting her life at risk. The claim caused a major stir, prompting immediate attention from Ghaziabad police, and hundreds of BJP workers, including city and Muradnagar MLAs, rushed to the Madhuban Bapudham police station, demanding strict action.
A special police team was formed under Commissioner J. Ravinder Goud. However, the subsequent investigation revealed startling details:
- Forensic tests showed no gunpowder residue or bullet marks on the car’s body, roof, or glass.
- Over 300 CCTV footage clips were reviewed; there was no sign of any motorcycle attackers.
- The shattered glass was found inside the car, contrary to what would occur if it had been hit by bullets from outside.
Further Probes Underway
DCP City Dhaval Jaiswal confirmed that the forensic and technical examinations found no evidence of firing. The police are now investigating other aspects of the case. Sources indicate that Sheetal Chaudhary may be summoned for questioning soon.
Possible Motive
Party insiders suggest that Councillor Chaudhary had long been demanding a personal police gunner and had a previous dispute with a major contractor over municipal contracts. It is speculated that the staged incident may have been an attempt to secure security and exert pressure on the contractor. Ironically, the police inquiry, initiated under pressure from party leaders, has now put the councillor herself under scrutiny.
