Tensions Flare in Congress Review Meeting After Bihar Poll Defeat

Following a crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Congress party convened a review meeting in Indira Bhavan, New Delhi with all 61 Bihar candidates. However, the meeting reportedly witnessed a heated confrontation between two defeated candidates, raising eyebrows across party circles.

Candidates Clash During Post-Poll Review

According to reports, Engineer Sanjeev, the Vaishali constituency candidate, and Jitendra Yadav from Purnia got into a verbal spat during discussions over the election results. The argument escalated, reportedly reaching the point where Sanjeev allegedly threatened, “I will shoot you in the mouth.” The confrontation occurred in the absence of senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

Congress Leadership Responds

Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru commented on the meeting, emphasizing the challenges posed by the election engineering: “It is surprising that the strike rate of all NDA allies exceeded two-thirds, while the performance of Mahagathbandhan constituents remained uneven. This election was carefully engineered.”

Meanwhile, Araria MLA Abidur Rahman pointed to multiple factors behind the defeat, including alleged violation of the model code of conduct, financial inducements to voters, delays in forming the alliance, and friendly contests on 10–11 seats, which reportedly confused voters.

The post-poll review, intended to analyze Congress’s performance in Bihar, ended on a tense note, highlighting internal differences within the party and the urgent need for strategic recalibration ahead of future elections.
