Living in Mora village of Rapar taluka in Kutch district, Jivuben Rabari and her husband have welcomed their first child after 45 years of marriage, defying age, medical opinions, and societal doubts.

In October 2021, Jivuben achieved what many called impossible—she became a mother through IVF treatment. Although she had no official records of her exact age, Jivuben told doctors that she had seen around “65 to 70 summers.” Determined and emotional about motherhood, she convinced the medical team to help her.

Her gynecologist, Dr. Naresh Bhanushali, explained the rare medical achievement.
According to him, doctors first regulated her menstrual cycle through oral medication. They then worked on expanding her uterus, which had shrunk due to age. After fertilizing her eggs and developing a blastocyst, it was successfully transferred to her uterus.

Two weeks later, the ultrasound stunned even the doctors—the fetus was growing normally. With no major comorbidities but mindful of age-related risks, the team performed a C-section in the eighth month. The baby was born healthy and safe.
