Bihar: Bank Branch Manager Found Dead by Suicide in Saharsa; Family Dispute Raises Questions

Saharsa, Bihar: In a shocking incident, Rakesh Roshan (45), branch manager of IDBI Bank, was found dead at his residence in New Colony, Saharsa, having allegedly committed suicide. The discovery came when family members arrived and found the door locked, prompting them to alert authorities.

Rakesh, who was home alone as his wife and children were attending a wedding in Godda, Jharkhand, was found hanging from a ceiling fan with his face covered. Reports indicate that he had been dead for 12–18 hours before being discovered. A suicide note recovered from his room reportedly cited pressures from work and family.

Personal Background
Rakesh had married Pooja, a resident of Dhamdaha in Purnia district, in a love marriage. Pooja had previously been married to Santosh Thakur of Katihar, who died in a road accident a year after their marriage. She later pursued GNM studies in Ranchi, where she met Rakesh and his sister. Rakesh and Pooja were married in a temple shortly thereafter. Pooja had a child from her first marriage and gave birth to another daughter three years ago during her marriage with Rakesh.

Recent Developments
Ten days prior to the incident, Rakesh had traveled with his wife to Kolkata, reportedly without any conflict. Sources indicate that his mother passed away during his childhood, and his father died in 2020. Both of Rakesh’s sisters are married. Although they were not in Saharsa, they reportedly made several allegations via mobile, adding to the ongoing speculation.

Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding Rakesh’s death to determine the exact cause and whether any foul play was involved.
