Lakhisarai, Bihar: A routine family argument in Khutaha Chetan Tola, under Barhiya police jurisdiction, turned deadly when ITBP jawan Vikas Kumar (alias Nato Kumar), 35, fatally shot his father Uday Shankar Singh before turning the gun on himself.
Sources reported that Vikas Kumar had recently returned home on leave. During his stay, a minor argument erupted between him and his wife. Attempting to intervene, his father Uday Shankar Singh approached the couple. In a sudden outburst, Vikas fired three shots at his father, killing him instantly. Witnesses said Vikas also aimed the firearm at his younger brother and wife, who narrowly escaped unharmed.
After moving a short distance from the house, Vikas Kumar shot himself, succumbing to his injuries at the scene. Neighbors described Vikas as a calm individual, though family tensions had escalated in recent months.
Local authorities, led by SP Ajay Kumar, arrived promptly after receiving information about the incident. The house was sealed, and the firearm along with spent cartridges were recovered for forensic examination. Both bodies were taken to Lakhisarai for post-mortem. Police officials stated that the exact motive will be determined only after analyzing family statements and technical reports. The tragedy has left the family in profound shock.
