A shocking case of sexual assault and criminal intimidation has emerged from Mumbai, where a 51-year-old businesswoman was allegedly stripped and threatened at gunpoint inside a corporate office cabin. Mumbai Police have registered an FIR and launched a search for the named accused.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on January 17, 2023, inside the office of M/s Franco Indian Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. located in the Mahalaxmi area. The woman, who works in the photo-frame and gifting business, stated that she was called to the office by one Manish Honawar. Upon her arrival, she was allegedly assaulted and threatened by multiple individuals.
Stripped and Threatened at Gunpoint
In her detailed statement, the survivor told the police that she was first beaten with the butt of a revolver on her shoulder and back by an unidentified man. She further alleged that accused Joy John Pascal Postel forced her into his cabin, where he held her at gunpoint, forcibly removed her burqa, stripped her inner clothing, and molested her.
The woman also claimed that the accused verbally abused her and threatened to record videos and take photographs, warning that the material would be posted on social media if she resisted or spoke out.
Case Registered Under IPC, Arms Act, and IT Act
Initially, the woman filed a complaint at the Paydhoni Police Station. The case was later transferred to the NM Joshi Marg Police Station, which registered a formal FIR on November 22.
Mumbai Police have invoked serious charges including sections related to sexual assault, criminal intimidation, assault with a weapon, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act and Information Technology Act for threats involving photo and video misuse.
According to investigators, six individuals—including primary accused Joy John Pascal Postel—have been booked. The police are currently conducting searches and recording statements as part of the ongoing probe.
City Shocked by Corporate Office Crime
The incident has triggered widespread concern as it occurred inside a corporate office located in a central business district. Police officials have assured that strict action will be taken and that no accused will be spared.
