Two Drug Smugglers Arrested in Jagdalpur with 10 Kg Marijuana and Hashish Oil, Market Value Over ₹1 Crore

Jagdalpur: The Bastar police have arrested two drug traffickers in Jagdalpur, recovering approximately 10 kilograms of marijuana and hashish oil, with an estimated market value of ₹1.29 crore. The seized contraband was reportedly destined for major cities where the demand for hashish oil is high.

Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted and arrested the two smugglers near the railway siding in Sargipal, Jagdalpur. The operation was conducted by the Bodhghat police station under the supervision of Jagdalpur CSP Sumit Kumar, who described the seizure as a major success in curbing drug trafficking in the region.

The accused identified themselves as Sitaram Kuldeep and Ramchandra Madi, residents of Koraput, Odisha. During interrogation, they revealed that their plan was to supply the drugs in Chhattisgarh and then transport them to cities including Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune, where hashish oil has significant demand. The traffickers had traveled to Jagdalpur on a motorcycle carrying the contraband. Laboratory testing confirmed the substance as marijuana and hashish oil.

Following the arrests, both individuals have been sent to jail. Authorities emphasized that such crackdowns are part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal drug trade in Bastar and prevent these substances from reaching major metropolitan markets.
