Meerut: A shocking video from LLRM Medical College’s girls’ hostel has gone viral on social media, showing a stray dog licking food plates meant for resident doctors and medical students. The clip has sparked outrage among doctors and students, leading to a boycott of the hostel mess.
The video clearly shows the dog climbing onto the platform where the meals are served and consuming leftover food from the plates, raising serious hygiene and safety concerns. Although such incidents have occurred in the past, this footage has drawn widespread attention and criticism.
Student and Doctor Reaction
Students and resident doctors staying at the hostel said that the college administration claims to provide a safe, home-like environment, but the reality is far from it. They questioned how personal safety and health guarantees can be ensured when even the food plates are exposed to contamination. Following the viral video, anger and frustration spread quickly among the hostel residents.
Resident doctors have warned the administration that they will continue boycotting the mess until new utensils are provided and adequate safety measures are put in place. They have decided to order food from outside in the meantime.
Stray Animals in the Campus and Hospital
The problem is not confined to the hostel alone. Stray dogs and monkeys are also causing issues across the medical college hospital campus. Patients and attendants frequently face harassment from these animals, with monkeys damaging vehicles and dogs roaming freely from the OPD to the wards. Such chaos in a sensitive healthcare setting directly threatens patient safety and public health.
The college administration stated that the municipal team has been conducting drives to capture stray dogs, in line with Supreme Court orders. However, the unchecked presence of dogs in a prominent medical institution indicates that enforcement is largely on paper, with little action on the ground.
