Fatal Kia Sonet Crash on Delhi–Mumbai Expressway Claims Lives of Two Youths from Gujarat

Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan): A tragic road accident on the Delhi–Mumbai–Vadodara Expressway late Thursday night claimed the lives of two young men from Gujarat, after their Kia Sonet car was hit by an unidentified vehicle and plunged into a median ditch in Sawai Madhopur district.

The accident occurred near pillar number 246 under the jurisdiction of the Bonli police station. According to police officials, the Kia Sonet was travelling at high speed when it was struck by an unknown vehicle. Following the impact, the driver lost control and the car veered off the roadway, crashing into the ditch separating the two lanes of the expressway. The vehicle was completely mangled in the crash.

One Dead on the Spot, Another Succumbs to Injuries

One of the occupants, Kamal Gohil (35), a resident of Vadodara, Gujarat, died on the spot due to severe injuries. The second occupant, Tejasvi Solanki (32) from Bhavnagar, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Bonli Community Health Centre after being rescued from the wreckage by police and emergency personnel.

Doctors declared Kamal Gohil dead upon arrival, while Tejasvi Solanki was referred to Jaipur for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Bodies Kept in Mortuary, Families Informed

Police have placed the bodies of both victims in the mortuary at the Bonli CHC and informed their families. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted after the relatives arrive in Sawai Madhopur, following which the bodies will be handed over.

Police Hunt for Unknown Vehicle

After the accident, the damaged Kia Sonet was removed from the expressway and shifted to a nearby rest area to prevent traffic disruption. Police have launched a search for the unidentified vehicle involved in the collision. CCTV footage from cameras installed along the expressway is being examined to trace the vehicle and determine the exact cause of the accident.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing and assured that strict action will be taken once the responsible driver is identified.

The incident has once again raised concerns over high-speed driving and hit-and-run cases on India’s rapidly expanding expressway network, underscoring the urgent need for stricter enforcement and safer driving practices.
