German Couple Detained Near India–Pakistan Border Fined ₹6 Lakh, Deportation Initiated

Security and intelligence agencies have taken strict action against a German couple detained in the border area of Sri Karanpur in Sri Ganganagar district, close to the India–Pakistan international border. Following a detailed investigation, the authorities have imposed a fine of ₹6 lakh on the couple and initiated deportation proceedings as per established protocols.

According to official sources, the couple was taken into custody after they were found moving in a sensitive border zone without proper authorization. The Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) conducted an extensive interrogation, during which several crucial disclosures were made.

Links to Sensitive Religious Conversion Case Under Probe

Investigators revealed that the German nationals had arrived in the region to gather information related to an ongoing investigation into an alleged religious conversion case that recently triggered tension in the area. Their presence, activities, and contacts raised serious security concerns, prompting immediate action by intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

After completion of the inquiry, the couple was served a show-cause notice, and a total penalty of ₹6 lakh was imposed for violations of visa norms and involvement in unauthorized activities.

Deportation Process Underway

Administrative officials confirmed that arrangements are being made to deport the couple to Germany via Delhi and Mumbai, following all legal and security procedures. Authorities emphasized that the deportation process is being carried out strictly in accordance with national security guidelines.

During the investigation, it was found that a local resident, Rajesh Kamboj, who had allegedly provided accommodation to the foreign nationals, had previously lived in Germany. His role is currently under scrutiny, and multiple aspects of his involvement are being examined.

Additionally, four other individuals associated with the case are being questioned continuously at the Sri Karanpur Police Station, as agencies attempt to uncover the full network involved.

Area Witnessed Tension After Allegations

It is noteworthy that the region witnessed heightened tension following allegations of suspicious religious conversion activities a few days earlier. Police had detained several individuals from a rented house, where the presence of foreign nationals and unauthorized activities sparked public outrage. Local residents staged protests demanding stringent action, after which the police intervened to restore law and order.

Authorities have reiterated that any violation of India’s security, visa regulations, or internal harmony—especially in border areas—will be dealt with firmly, irrespective of nationality.
