Ghaziabad: Swift Police Action After Bone Found in Veg Biryani, Shopkeeper Arrested

In a case that sparked public outrage, Ghaziabad Police have arrested a local shopkeeper for allegedly selling non-vegetarian content in veg biryani. The action was taken after a customer complained of finding a bone fragment in the biryani that was sold as vegetarian.

According to police officials, the accused has been identified as Rashid, a resident near Neelam Factory area. He was running a food stall under the name RK Veg Biryani. ACP Gyan Prakash Rai confirmed that Rashid has been taken into custody and questioned in connection with the incident.

The complaint was filed by Anil Sharma, a resident of Arya Nagar, who said that on his way home with his wife Tanu Sharma, he purchased two plates of veg biryani from the stall near Neelam Factory. After reaching home and starting their meal, the couple allegedly found a bone piece in the biryani, causing shock and anger.

Following the complaint, police registered a case and conducted a preliminary investigation, after which the shopkeeper was arrested. During questioning, the accused claimed that he sells only veg biryani. However, police said further investigation is underway to verify the claims and examine food safety violations.

Incidents of bones being found in food sold as vegetarian have surfaced repeatedly in the past, often triggering religious and consumer concerns. Police officials said such matters are taken seriously, as they involve public sentiment, food safety, and consumer trust.

Authorities have assured strict action in accordance with the law if deliberate negligence or misrepresentation is established. The incident has once again highlighted the need for stringent monitoring of food vendors and adherence to food safety norms in urban areas.
