Gwalior Court Sentences Stepfather to Life Imprisonment for Raping Minor Daughter

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh: In a disturbing case that has shaken the local community, a stepfather was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Gwalior District Court for sexually assaulting his minor stepdaughter while her mother was away. Along with the life term, the court imposed a fine of ₹25,000 and ordered compensation of ₹4 lakh to the victim.

Incident Details
The crime occurred in April 2025 in the Bhanwarpura area, when the minor was sleeping at home with her sister while her mother had traveled to Morena for a wedding. Taking advantage of the mother’s absence, the stepfather allegedly entered the room in the middle of the night and committed the assault. Upon returning from Morena, the mother was informed by her daughter and immediately filed a complaint at the local police station.

Investigation and Evidence
The accused was arrested on 30 April 2025 and remained in custody since. The police submitted the charge sheet in June, and the court completed the trial within six months. During proceedings, the accused attempted to deny the allegations, claiming disputes over a visiting relative. However, DNA evidence and the victim’s consistent testimony confirmed the crime, leading the court to deliver a life sentence.
