Gwalior Police in Shootout With Notorious Criminal Kapil Yadav; Injured, Arrested After 10-Minute Fire Exchange

Gwalior: A violent encounter unfolded on Monday morning near the Bandholi forests close to Mohanpur when Gwalior police confronted the city’s notorious criminal, Kapil Yadav. During the exchange of fire, Yadav was shot in the leg and subsequently arrested. He is currently undergoing treatment at Jayarogya Hospital under strict police security.

Short Encounter Leads to Arrest

Police had received confidential intelligence about Yadav’s movements, prompting a joint search operation by multiple police stations in the area. Upon detecting suspicious activity, the officers encircled the location. Realizing he was trapped, Yadav opened fire on the police team, who responded with controlled fire. During the confrontation, he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and fell to the ground.

Immediate Hospitalization

The injured criminal was immediately apprehended and provided first aid before being shifted in serious condition to Jayarogya Hospital. Doctors confirmed that Yadav sustained a leg injury, and intensive treatment is underway. Police have established tight security at the hospital to prevent any untoward incidents.

A Longtime Menace

Kapil Yadav has been a feared figure in Gwalior for years, implicated in multiple cases of assault, robbery, illegal weapons possession, and attacks on political figures, including a recent attack on a BJP leader. A reward of ₹10,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest. His capture is expected to help police resolve several pending criminal cases in the region.

Accomplice Arrested, Yadav Flees Briefly

Following the encounter, Yadav’s accomplice, Aman Yadav, was apprehended with a WagonR car. Kapil attempted to flee into the nearby forests under the cover of darkness. Police surrounded him near a brick kiln and called for his surrender, but Yadav fired again, prompting return fire. He was eventually hit in the leg and taken into custody.

Police Statement

Officials stated that Kapil Yadav had been spreading terror in the area for a long time. Multiple previous attempts to apprehend him had failed due to his evasive tactics. The police are optimistic that his arrest will lead to significant breakthroughs in several ongoing investigations.
