Ayodhya: On the auspicious day of Vivah Panchami, a sacred saffron flag was ceremoniously hoisted atop the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya during an Abhijit Muhurat, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. This event marked the continuation of the temple’s ancient ritualistic tradition.
Crafted with Precision
The specially designed flag was manufactured by a dedicated parachute production company based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Crafted over 25 days, the flag uses parachute-grade fabric, enabling it to withstand extreme sunlight, rain, and high winds for an extended period. Premium silk threads were employed in its embroidery, and the final design and technical specifications were developed in consultation with senior military officials.
Durability and Technical Features
Measuring 22×11 feet, the saffron flag can endure winds of up to 60 km/h and remains resilient against harsh weather conditions. It has been installed on a 42-foot-high rotating pole using a nylon rope and an automated hoisting system, ensuring that it flies steadfastly throughout the year.
Symbolism and Significance
The flag features three sacred symbols embroidered in golden threads. The sun emblem represents Lord Ram’s Suryavanshi lineage and his boundless energy. The sacred ‘Om’ symbol signifies spirituality and cosmic power, while the depiction of the Kovidar tree reflects purity, prosperity, and the ideals of Ram Rajya.
PM Modi’s Remarks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the spiritual significance of the site, stating, “Here, one can experience the presence of Mata Ahilya, Maharishi Valmiki, Maharishi Vashishta, Maharishi Vishwamitra, Maharishi Agastya, and Sant Tulsidas along with Ram Lalla. The site also features statues of Jatayu and the squirrel, symbolizing the importance of every small effort in achieving great endeavors. I urge every citizen visiting the Ram Temple to also witness the seven associated temples, which promote devotion, friendship, and social harmony. Lord Ram connects not by division but through emotion and faith.”
