A devastating road accident occurred early Friday morning in Mirzapur, claiming the lives of four people, including a father and son. The fatal crash took place around 7:30 AM near the Katka Godown area under the Kachhwa police station limits.
According to initial reports, a speeding car travelling from Prayagraj to Varanasi first struck two pedestrians on the roadside and then rammed into a stationary truck parked along the highway. The impact was so severe that the car was completely crushed, with debris scattered over 50 meters.
Thick Fog or Driver Fatigue Suspected
Eyewitnesses suggest that heavy morning fog may have reduced visibility, contributing to the accident. However, some locals claim that the car driver might have dozed off behind the wheel.
Father and Son Killed Inside the Car
Police teams rushed to the scene for rescue operations. They managed to pull out the occupants of the car, but both had already succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased have been identified as:
- Babulal (55)
- Anurag (22) — Babulal’s son
The family belonged to Daulakpur village in the Soraon tehsil of Prayagraj and was travelling to Varanasi at the time of the accident.
Police Investigation Underway
Local authorities have initiated a detailed inquiry into the accident. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and efforts are on to identify the two pedestrians who were run over during the incident.
