In a terrifying incident in Jaipur’s Adarsh Nagar area, a traffic policeman narrowly escaped a potential tragedy when a drunk truck driver refused to stop in a no-entry zone. Head Constable Rampal (52) attempted to halt the speeding truck by signaling the driver, but when the vehicle did not stop, he climbed onto the truck’s bonnet to prevent it from advancing. Shockingly, the driver, identified as Raghuveer Singh from Lakshmangarh, Sikar, accelerated, dragging the constable for approximately half a kilometer.
Eyewitnesses and nearby commuters quickly intervened, using their vehicles to block the truck’s path and help Rampal maintain his grip until the truck finally came to a halt. The police promptly arrived on the scene and took both the truck and the driver into custody. Authorities noted that the driver appeared intoxicated, and he underwent medical evaluation following the incident.
The Jaipur Police Department has acknowledged the courage and quick thinking of Head Constable Rampal, who remained steadfast despite the life-threatening situation. Additional Commissioner of Traffic, Yogesh Dadheech, confirmed that Rampal’s bravery would be formally recognized and his name recommended for an award.
