Jharkhand: Bride’s Brother Kidnapped During Wedding Ceremony, Rescued by Ranchi Police from Bihar Border

Ranchi, Jharkhand: In a shocking incident during a wedding ceremony in Nagdri police station area, the bride’s brother, Sumit Soni, was kidnapped and a ransom of ₹20 lakh was demanded from his family. Acting swiftly on the alert, Ranchi police successfully rescued Sumit from the Jharkhand-Bihar border and arrested four suspects involved in the abduction.

Kidnapping During Wedding Chaos
On the night of November 24, Vishwambar Prasad was busy celebrating his daughter’s wedding when around 2 AM, Sumit Soni called his family to inform them that he had been kidnapped. The call abruptly ended, creating panic in the family, who immediately reported the incident to Nagdri police.

Police Track Down Kidnappers
Using the support of the Cyber Technical Cell, Ranchi police traced the kidnappers’ location. Within a few hours, the team apprehended the gang near the Bihar border and rescued Sumit Soni unharmed. The arrested suspects include Narayan Kumar, Sonu Kumar Vishwakarma, Sumit Kumar, and Harsh Kumar, all residents of Arrah district, Bihar.

Modus Operandi and Seizures
Police confirmed that the kidnappers exploited the crowd and chaos during the wedding to execute the plan. During the raid, officers seized four mobile phones, a white Swift Dzire car, and some intoxicating substances from the accused. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the motive was purely ransom-driven, prompting immediate police action.

Further Investigation Ongoing
The Ranchi Police have launched a detailed investigation to uncover any accomplices and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice. Authorities have also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in the area.
