Ludhiana (Vikram Saini):
With the objective of strengthening routine immunization services and ensuring maximum vaccination coverage, the Ludhiana Health Department is set to launch a Special Immunization Week (SIW) from December 15 to December 22, 2025, under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramneep Kaur.
As part of the preparations for the week-long campaign, a special training session was organized for all Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) of Ludhiana district. The training was conducted by District Immunization Officer (DIO) Dr. Harpreet Singh, who provided detailed guidelines on the effective implementation of immunization activities during the campaign.
Dr. Harpreet Singh emphasized the need to enhance coverage of critical vaccines such as Penta-1, OPV, and MR, stating that achieving high immunization rates is essential to protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases. He urged all LHVs to work with dedication and commitment to make the Special Immunization Week a success.
The training session covered key aspects including micro-planning, vaccine administration, cold-chain management, and strategies to address vaccine hesitancy. LHVs were also guided on identifying children who have missed routine immunization doses, ensuring no eligible child is left behind.
The upcoming SIW will primarily focus on reaching underserved and vulnerable populations, with the aim of providing timely, life-saving vaccines to every eligible child. Through this initiative, the Health Department seeks to reduce immunization gaps and reinforce the importance of routine vaccination.
Appealing to the public, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramneep Kaur urged all parents and guardians in Ludhiana to actively participate in the campaign and ensure complete immunization of their children, emphasizing that vaccination is a crucial step toward a healthier and disease-free future.
