Nikki Bhati Murder Case: Son Reveals Chilling Details — “Grandmother Handed the Lighter, Father Set Her on Fire

Greater Noida — The investigation into the brutal murder of Nikki Bhati from Sirsa village has taken a horrifying turn with the filing of a 500-page chargesheet, revealing a meticulously planned conspiracy by her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. The chargesheet includes the shocking testimony of Nikki’s six-year-old son, who witnessed the entire incident and stated that his grandmother handed the lighter before his father set Nikki on fire.

500-Page Chargesheet Exposes Family Conspiracy

Police have filed the chargesheet in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), confirming that Nikki did not die in an accident but was murdered by her in-laws. Investigators uncovered that Nikki’s husband Vipin and mother-in-law Dayavati frequently subjected her to extreme cruelty due to her modern lifestyle and active presence on social media.

Nikki and her sister Kanchan, both educated, operated a beauty parlour at home and promoted their work through videos and reels—activities her orthodox in-laws strongly disapproved of. This growing resentment eventually led to a deadly plot to eliminate her.

Son’s Eyewitness Account Forms Crucial Evidence

According to the child’s statement recorded by the police, the violence began when his father entered the room and started beating Nikki. When she resisted, Vipin poured a liquid substance—later confirmed to be thinner—over her. Standing nearby, the grandmother passed a lighter to Vipin, enabling him to ignite the flames that engulfed Nikki.

The chargesheet further states that as soon as Nikki caught fire and screamed in pain, Vipin escaped through the neighbour’s terrace, while Dayavati slipped out to the shop below. Their actions were designed to create an alibi and suggest they were not present when the incident occurred.

Claims of Cylinder Explosion Proven False

Initially, the accused attempted to mislead the police by claiming that Nikki sustained burn injuries due to a cylinder explosion. However, forensic findings rejected these claims. No traces of a blast were found at the scene. Forensic and post-mortem examination confirmed that Nikki was intentionally set ablaze.

During questioning, Vipin led investigators to the spot near the Dixon company green belt where he had thrown the thinner bottle. This, along with burnt clothing, melted materials, and the recovered lighter, formed significant evidence. RFSL Ghaziabad included detailed chemical and toxicology reports in the case file.

Accused Charged Under Serious BNS Sections

Police have charged the four accused —

  • Vipin (husband)
  • Dayavati (mother-in-law)
  • Satveer (father-in-law)
  • Rohit (brother-in-law)

under sections
103(1) – Murder,
115(2) – Intentional Infliction of Grievous Hurt, and
61(2) – Criminal Conspiracy
of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

Nikki’s sister Kanchan, in her complaint, alleged that on the evening of 21 August, Nikki was pinned to the ground, doused with thinner, and set ablaze. She suffered 80% burns and was taken first to Fortis Hospital and later referred to Safdarjung Hospital, where she died.

Defense Claims Innocence; Bail Plea to Be Filed

Advocate Amit Bhati Bodaki, representing the accused, announced that a bail application will soon be filed in the sessions court. He claims that the accused were not present at the crime scene and have CCTV footage and other evidence to support their innocence. The defense maintains that they have been falsely implicated.

Police Stand Firm on Murder Theory

Police officials insist that the murder was planned and executed with precision. They allege that the accused attempted to stage the incident as an accident, even rushing Nikki to the hospital to portray themselves as rescuers.

The investigation remains ongoing, but the chargesheet has already exposed a grim story of domestic harassment, premeditation, and a child’s heartbreaking testimony against his own family members.
