Noida’s 5 Lakh Dormant Accounts Hold ₹190 Crore: RBI Launches Special Camp in Surajpur Today for Claim Settlement

Noida: More than 4.80 lakh dormant bank accounts in Noida collectively hold a staggering ₹190.63 crore, lying unclaimed for years. With no beneficiaries coming forward, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a nationwide initiative, “Aapki Pooji Aapka Adhikar”, to help legal heirs claim the funds.

As part of this campaign, a special claim-settlement camp will be organized today, Friday, from 12 PM to 3 PM, at the Vikas Bhawan Auditorium in Surajpur.

Beneficiaries Urged to Attend With Documents

District Lead Bank Manager Rajesh Katheria informed that individuals who suspect unclaimed funds in their or their family members’ accounts should visit the camp with necessary documents to verify and claim the amount. The session will be chaired by District Magistrate Medha Roopam, with MLC Shrichand Sharma as the special guest.

People unaware of the exact details of the dormant accounts can find all related information on the UDGAM Portal, introduced by the RBI.

Campaign Active Till December 31

The unclaimed deposits campaign will continue till 31 December, during which multiple camps will be held across the district. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to reclaim their rightful funds.

New Rule: Up to 4 Nominees Allowed

To prevent future accumulation of unclaimed deposits, the RBI has implemented a new rule effective 1 November, allowing up to four nominees for bank accounts and lockers. Account holders can now choose co-nominees either jointly or in succession, ensuring smoother claim processing for legal heirs. Several banks have also begun publishing lists of dormant accounts on their official websites.
