If Rajasthan is on your travel itinerary for the New Year 2026, this update from Indian Railways is crucial. Due to extensive technical upgrades and track development works, more than 20 trains operating in and through Rajasthan will be cancelled, partially cancelled, diverted or rescheduled during January and February 2026. The changes may significantly affect travel plans during the peak holiday season.
Railway Upgradation Work to Impact Services
According to railway officials, major technical works, including track doubling and safety-related upgrades, are underway under the North Western Railway and South Western Railway zones. To facilitate these works, traffic blocks will be imposed at several sections, directly impacting the movement of passenger and express trains.
While officials emphasize that these measures are essential for long-term passenger safety and improved services, the immediate effect may cause inconvenience in terms of delays, route changes and cancellations.
High Risk of Passenger Inconvenience
Railway authorities have cautioned that passengers travelling without prior schedule verification may face difficulties at stations. Changes in train timings, shortened routes and complete cancellations could lead to missed connections and additional expenses.
