Alwar (Rajasthan): The demand for the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Rajgarh town of Alwar district has escalated into a major public movement, with widespread protests continuing for the third consecutive day. Roads remain blocked, markets shut, and hundreds of residents have taken to the streets, demanding a written assurance from the administration.
On Friday, under the banner of the Rajgarh Awaaz Manch, protesters blocked the Alwar–Rajgarh–Bandikui road, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. Traders, representatives of social organisations, and local residents staged a sit-in, forcing authorities to deploy additional police personnel to maintain law and order.
Anger Over School Shift to Daulatpura
The protesters allege that although the Union government had announced the opening of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Rajgarh during the budget, the administration later allotted land for the school in Daulatpura village of the Raini area, allegedly under political pressure. Opposing this decision, demonstrators placed electricity poles and vehicles on the road to block movement.
Residents insist that the school must be established in Rajgarh, as originally announced, and not shifted elsewhere.
Complete Shutdown, Massive Rally
Responding to the call of Rajgarh Awaaz Manch, the town observed a complete and peaceful shutdown for the third day. Markets, medical stores, and vegetable mandis remained closed, with only limited emergency services operating.
On Friday morning, a large protest rally was organised, drawing massive participation. Around 9 am, traders and members of social organisations gathered at Pandit Bhawani Sahay Chowk. The rally passed through the main streets of the town, including Gol Circle and Sarai Bazaar, before reaching the tehsil premises, where slogans were raised and a strong demonstration was held.
Addressing the gathering, Rajgarh Awaaz Manch leader Mukesh Jaiman said the agitation was a fight for Rajgarh’s rightful claim. “This movement has united the entire town. The people will not back down,” he declared.
Protest to Continue Until Written Assurance
Jaiman stated that while government representatives have verbally conveyed—over phone calls—that the land allotment in Daulatpura would be cancelled and the school would be set up on land of the Rajgarh Agricultural Produce Market Committee, protesters would now trust only a written order.
“The agitation will continue until a formal written notification is issued cancelling the Daulatpura allotment and clearly confirming the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Rajgarh,” he said.
With public anger showing no signs of subsiding, the issue has emerged as a significant challenge for the district administration, as Rajgarh remains firmly shut and united in its demand.
