Sukma Encounter: Security Forces Neutralise Three Maoists of Kistaram Area Committee in Golapalli Forest

Raipur: In a major success against Left Wing Extremism, security forces on Thursday neutralised three Maoists, including a woman cadre, during an intense encounter in the dense forests and hilly terrain of Golapalli in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.

According to official sources, the slain Maoists have been identified as members of the Kistaram Area Committee, considered an active unit of the banned CPI (Maoist). The operation marks another significant blow to the Maoist network operating in the Bastar region.

Encounter During Search Operation

The encounter broke out when District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel were conducting a search operation following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists in the Golapalli police station area. As the security forces advanced through the forest, the Maoists opened fire, prompting an immediate and effective retaliation by the troops.

Heavy exchange of fire continued for several hours in the challenging jungle and hill landscape. Security forces maintained their positions with full alertness, forcing the Maoists to retreat.

Operation Still Ongoing

Officials confirmed that the anti-Naxal operation is still underway, as the area is being thoroughly combed to rule out the presence of additional armed cadres or hidden explosives. Additional security forces have been placed on alert to prevent any possible counter-action by Maoist groups.

Strong Message Against Extremism

This successful operation reinforces the resolve of security forces to eliminate Maoist violence and restore peace in the region. The killing of active Kistaram Area Committee members is being seen as a strategic setback for Maoist operations in southern Chhattisgarh.

Authorities have stated that further details, including recovery of arms and ammunition, will be shared once the operation concludes.
