Two Injured by Chinese Manja on Highway in Khargone; Safety Concerns Raised Despite Ban

Khargone, MP: Despite being banned, the dangerous Chinese manja continues to cause injuries in Khargone. On Sunday, two people were hurt after coming into contact with the sharp kite strings along the national highway near Nimarani village, raising questions about the authorities’ enforcement of the ban. One victim sustained a serious cut near the eye.

Incident on Chichli Road
Ghannu Jaiswal from Umarada village, Barwani district was riding a motorcycle towards Khalghat when he accidentally got entangled in a flying Chinese manja near Chichli Phata. The sharp string caused a deep cut near his eye. Despite the sudden accident, he managed to control his bike and stop safely. Mohit Sen, a nearby hair salon owner, promptly assisted him by taking him to a doctor for treatment and informed locals in Nimarani.

Another passerby, Gopal, son of Inder Dasoundhi, also suffered minor injuries on the neck from the same manja but avoided serious harm by quickly grabbing the thread.

Public Concern and Demand for Strict Action
Citizens are raising concerns about the open sale of Chinese manja along busy highways, questioning how it remains available despite the government ban. Calls are increasing for strict action against vendors selling this hazardous material.

Separate Kite-Flying Accident in Jaitapur
In another incident in Jaitapur, nine-year-old Kartik, son of Ravindra Mandloi, slipped while flying a kite on a rooftop around noon on Sunday. He suffered injuries to his hands and legs, and a serious head injury near the eye required eight stitches. The boy is currently receiving treatment.

These incidents highlight the ongoing risks posed by Chinese manja and the urgent need for stricter enforcement of the ban to protect public safety.
