UP BLO Overwhelmed by SIR Duty Records Emotional Video Before Suicide

A 43-year-old Booth Level Officer (BLO), assigned to Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duty in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district, died by suicide, triggering shock and anger across the region. The deceased, Sarvesh Kumar, recorded an emotional video moments before taking the extreme step, alleging unbearable work pressure.

Heart-Wrenching Video Surfaces

A video that has now gone viral on social media shows Sarvesh Kumar crying uncontrollably while speaking about the crushing workload. In the video, he repeatedly apologises to his family and urges his mother to take care of his four daughters.

Mom, please take care of my daughters… I alone am responsible for what I am about to do. No one should blame my family. The SIR workload is too much. I cannot sleep, I cannot work. I want to live, but the pressure is unbearable,” Sarvesh says as he breaks down.

Along with the video, Sarvesh reportedly left behind a three-page suicide note, echoing the same concerns.

Wife Accuses Administration of Negligence

Sarvesh’s wife, Babli, has levelled serious allegations against the district administration and the manner in which SIR duties were assigned.

“My husband was the headmaster of the school, not a BLO. They made him a BLO without proper training. They handed him 1,015 forms without help or guidance. He worked till 2 am every night. I myself sat with him to assist. This pressure killed him,” she said while speaking to the media.

Assigned as BLO for Booth No. 406

Sarvesh Kumar was posted as a teacher at the Composite School in Jahidpur, Bhagatpur Tanda. For SIR duties, he was designated as the BLO for Booth No. 406.

On Saturday night, Sarvesh went to his room, telling family members he needed rest. By Sunday morning, he was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room.

Shockwaves Across the District

The incident has sparked widespread debate over the mounting burden placed on government school teachers during electoral-related assignments. Locals and teachers’ unions are demanding a thorough inquiry into SIR procedures and accountability for the pressure placed on field officers.

Authorities have begun preliminary investigation, while the family awaits justice and clarity.
