Dehradun, Uttarakhand: The northern state of Uttarakhand is experiencing a sharp drop in minimum temperatures across most regions, bringing chilly conditions to both hill and plain areas. In the mountainous zones, frost on roads is making travel hazardous, while the plains face mild inconvenience due to foggy conditions.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather remains dry throughout the state, but the cold is intensifying, especially in the hills. Frost formation in higher altitudes is contributing to the freezing conditions, while daytime sunshine offers little relief from the biting cold.
Temperature Highlights:
- Dehradun: Max 25.0°C | Min 9.2°C
- Udham Singh Nagar: Max 25.4°C | Min 6.6°C
- Mukteshwar: Max 16.2°C | Min 2.5°C
- New Tehri: Max 16.5°C | Min 3.2°C
Despite bright sunlight during the day, the cold remains sharp in the mornings and evenings, especially in the hill regions. Minimum temperatures are recorded 2–3°C below normal, while maximum temperatures hover around the normal or slightly above.
Authorities have warned that frost-covered roads in hilly areas may pose serious risks for commuters. Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling, and to remain prepared for chilly conditions in the coming days.
