Baloch Leader Calls Jinnah a ‘Devil’ Over 1948 Balochistan Invasion

Islamabad: While Pakistan celebrates the 149th birth anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah on 25 December, honoring him as the founder of the nation, strong dissent continues in Balochistan. Prominent Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has called Jinnah a “devil and deceiver,” holding him responsible for forcibly bringing Balochistan under Pakistan’s control in March 1948.

Mir Yar Baloch, a long-time advocate for Balochistan’s independence, shared a social media post with Jinnah’s photograph labeled “Satan.” He wrote, “On 25 December 1876, a devil was born named Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose ancestors belonged to Punja. He served as the employee and lawyer of the Khan of Kalat, Ahmed Yar Khan, representing Balochistan in Britain. He betrayed Balochistan and, on 27 March 1948, launched a military attack to unlawfully seize control of free Balochistan.”

Baloch Resentment and Pakistan’s Denial of Jinnah
Mir emphasized that the Baloch nation has never accepted subjugation under Pakistan and continues to fight for its independence. According to him, even Pakistan itself rejected Jinnah in the end, and his death occurred in obscurity. Mir further criticized that Jinnah made no personal or economic sacrifices, and Pakistan’s creation had neither legal nor ethical justification. He called Pakistan a “terrorist state” and urged the global community to take decisive action against it while recognizing peaceful nations like Balochistan.

Historical Grievances in Balochistan
The Baloch people have long resisted Pakistan’s military and political control, viewing their incorporation into the country as illegitimate. Jinnah’s role in partitioning India and establishing Pakistan on religious lines remains a source of deep resentment in the region. Mir Yar Baloch’s remarks reflect the enduring anger in Balochistan over events dating back more than seven decades, highlighting the province’s ongoing struggle for autonomy.
