Jemima Khan Appeals to Elon Musk Over Ex-Husband Imran Khan’s Imprisonment

Islamabad: Jemima Goldsmith, the former wife of Pakistan’s ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, has made a public appeal to Elon Musk regarding her ex-husband’s incarceration. According to Jemima, her posts on X (formerly Twitter) highlighting Imran Khan’s treatment in prison are being restricted, limiting their reach to the public.

Jemima stated that her two sons have been denied access to meet or speak with their father over the past 22 months. Social media remains her primary platform to update the world on Imran Khan’s condition, but she claims that her posts are being filtered, reducing their visibility.

Addressing Musk directly, Jemima wrote: “Whenever I post about Imran, the reach of my posts is almost completely blocked, not just in Pakistan but globally. Despite having 3.5 million followers, people are prevented from seeing my updates. I request you to review the secret throttling on my account.”

Jemima also shared data indicating a sharp decline in her post impressions. While she previously received between 400 million and 900 million impressions monthly, her posts in 2025 have reached only 28.6 million users, with the decline beginning in May this year. She urged Musk to uphold the promise of freedom of expression on his platform.

Imran Khan’s Detention

Imran Khan has been imprisoned at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since 2023, following his removal from office in 2022 and multiple legal cases filed against him. His family and political party have expressed concern for his health. Jemima, despite being divorced since 2004, has continued to speak out about his welfare.

Imran and Jemima were married in 1995 and have two sons, Suleman Isa Khan and Qasim Khan. Following his imprisonment, Jemima has repeatedly appealed via social media for transparency regarding Imran Khan’s treatment.
